About Me

Hello, my name is Lois

I grew up in a family where life revolved around food. My mother started out in a bakery at 18 and ended her career as a professional cook at the age of 70. Each of my siblings worked with her in the professional kitcheen at some point in our early teens and my father, although not trained, was able to continue my mom's baking obligations when she gave birth to me. Her passion for good food rubbed off on me and that lead to incredible opportunities of being a Sous Chef for the likes of Julia Child, Jaque Pepin, Giuliano Bugialli and Anne Willan at a cooking school in Vancouver. My mentor Caren McSherry was instrumental in encouraging me to work hard and open my own cooking school and catering company called 'A Well Tooled Kitchen'. Circumstances changed and I ended up in Moscow for several years as a trailing spouce' and now have the opportunity to have 'The World at my Table'.

Being involved in the culinary industry has taken me to places I thought I would never go as well as afforded me opportunities that most people never get. Prior to living in Moscow, I owned a cooking school and catering company in Canada. Every year I would take a week or two to do a stage in a favourite restaurant or with a favourite chef. I also wrote Culinary articles for local Toronto magazines and in the past I have been published in magazines in Russia, Sweden and France. Food is my passion and since living in Moscow, I became a member of the oldest gastronomic society, Chaine des Rotisseurs and now I get the chance to meet like minded people from all over the world. Good food, good wine, good friends!

Come along on my culinary adventures!
